Last Thursday I came down with a pretty bad cold, so come Saturday when it was mostly rainy and I was still sick, we couldn't exactly go for a bike ride or a hike. Instead, we decided to explore by car.
We've wanted to drive through Franschhoek (pronounced: Fraanch-hook) for some time now already, so it was the perfect opportunity. Loosely translated as "French Quarter", Franschhoek was where all the French folks (huguenots??) settled when escaping persecution several hundred years ago. The town is over the mountains from Stellenbosch and even though it was supposed to be a rainy day, the drive was beautiful. In fact, I'm starting to think that the most gorgeous days here are when I see a raining sun icon on my weather app. The clouds are magnificent when they dip below the mountain ridges.

The mountains looking awesome already

Bobyanas!! (Probably not spelling that right.. AKA Baboons!)
There were seriously about 20 or more of them hanging out by the road.

We just couldn't get enough of the clouds!

There were also several cool looking hiking trails up there that we'll have to keep in mind for a non-raining-sun day. :)
