Jerico!

I don't usually feel like the most creative mom in the world, especially when I'm comparing myself to blogs like No Time for Flash Cards, but every once and awhile I feel like I do have a slightly-brighter-than-normal streak. ;)

We have had a few rainy days, and anticipate many more in the months of June, July, and August. On one such rainy day, the boys and I did a few things relating to the Israelites and Jerico. I think it was actually Auggie's idea because perhaps he learned about this in Sunday school, but regardless, he brought up The Big Wall so we decided to do some learning at home.

First we read about the Israelites and Jerico in what we fondly call The Jesus Book. (If you don't own The Jesus Storybook Bible, I highly recommend that you get a copy for your kiddos. It's amazing, to say the least! Unless you are Jenni--I'm pretty sure Haylee will be getting one for her second birthday, if I haven't given you guys a copy already. ;)

Next, we built our own Jerico with Duplos! (See below.) Then we walked around it seven times, made lots of (mild--we have neighbors) noise, and crashed the thing down. After that I let the boys watch the VeggieTales version of this story. (I know that's kind of cheating, but I needed to get lunch together and it seemed like a good reward for all their hard work building. :)
