Transportation: Mom

I am the only form of transportation the boys and I have during the day. Auggie is typically uninterested in walking, despite my encouragement, and thus I have to carry Eland around in my mei tai wrap while I push Auggie in our umbrella stroller. Can I just say that the mei tai wrap is worth it's weight in gold--not just the $35 I spent on it at this etsy shop?! (Although if you're considering a mei tai, my only wish is that mine had padded shoulder straps. Just an fyi.) Seriously, this thing rocks. Although this does make me very recognizable around town. I had a woman come up to me at the mall asking about my wrap saying that she saw me the other day and would love to have one for her baby. :)

This may be totally off, but it seems like people are surprised to see a white woman wearing a child. I've seen lots of black and colored (please remember that this term is neither derogatory nor antiquated in SA) ladies wearing their children on their backs in what look like towels wrapped around their torsos, but I haven't even seen a single white woman wearing a baby. I am happy to lead by example--as I follow in the footsteps of babywearers before of me.

This is how the boys and I typically get around
And now some honesty. Even though I love wearing Eland, and he is very happy in the wrap, when I close my eyes I dream of owning a Baby Jogger City Select double stroller. [Insert drooling noises here.] It's like the Rolls Royce of double strollers. It's narrow enough to get around the streets here, it's unbelievably customizable, it's pretty much as awesome as awesome gets, and with the bells and whistles that I want we're looking at well over $800 here. So while I like to dream, this dream won't be happening. I'm okay with it... But oh how nice it would be to have a stoller that I could push both boys in, get exercise with, and even go to the grocery store with and have enough room for groceries in the bottom basket. (Imagine two jumbo diaper packages looped on both handles of the umbrella stroller, a carton of milk in the little mesh bag behind Auggie's seat, Eland in the wrap, and two canvas bags full of groceries on either of my arms in the above picture. That was me last Friday.)

Anyway, it would be niiiice, but it's so not necessary. Just let me dream...
Red is not my first color choice, but it's better for showing details.
Oh the configurations!

...And I'm over it. :)

I want this stroller too, someday when we have two little ones I will splurge on it.

Maybe for your birthday and Christmas you could ask everyone to just invest in it instead of actual gifts!
