Dan surprised the boys and me with a car this weekend! He borrowed a Toyota Tazz, yeah baby, from our friend Billy. It's a tiny car, but it's completely average in size in South Africa. (A Toyota Corolla is considered full-sized here.) It was perfect for getting around town--and going to the beach!
We headed south to Strand which is situated on the lovely False Bay. The far southwest corner of False Bay houses the ever-famous Cape of Good Hope. Unfortunately we don't have any pictures of the beach in Strand. After paying for parking and heading out onto the gorgeous fine-sanded beach, filled with the scent of ocean air, we were immediately pelted with sand. Over and over and over again. It was a ridiculously windy day, so much so that we didn't dare get the camera out. It would have been out of commission fast. However the boys and I got to dip our toes in the Indian Ocean for the first time ever. :) I taught Auggie how to run from the waves, and Eland took to the water like a fish.
After realizing that sticking around Strand was going to leave us feeling miserable, we headed southeast along the bay towards Gordon's Bay. We stopped there and enjoyed the water without getting pelted with sand.

Look Dad and Zack--they have boats!
Okay, those in the back are more like it. ;)
The Tazz!
They have whales here, can you believe it?!
A look back at Gordon's Bay from the south
I love the line of haze hovering below the mountains and above the water. And the water really is that blue.
South of Gordon's Bay, not sure what it's called.
