I'm a Goathead Guy

After our bike ride yesterday Auggie stepped on a big surprise in our entry room--a goathead! I was convinced that this little bugger was a stowaway from Albuquerque. They were all over the place in Albuquerque and are deadly little buggars. They are tiny, but super-hard and super-sharp little balls of thorns that will make even the toughest dogs wimper and cry until their owners pull them out of their paws. You can imagine how painful it was for Auggie to step on one yesterday.

Anyway, I was positive that this one must have jumped on the plane with us from the States, but as we discovered today while out for a walk, goatheads are a-plenty here in South Africa too. Arrgh. Perhaps not as plentiful as Albuquerque, but we will certainly have to watch out!

By the way, to explain the title of this post, several times today Auggie has referred to himself as a "goathead guy." Not sure whether this is good or bad, but it is interesting to observe how he reacts to things.

Poor guy! Cute pictures, though. :) Love your bike route, & love that you brought the kid trailer. Interesting that it's so interesting to the S. Africans! xoxo af
