Our second vistor ever, my mom, arrived last Wednesday night at 9:35pm! How exciting!!!! Dan, the boys, and I have been looking forward to this visit for a month and a half now! We are all thoroughly excited to have her here with us and are soaking up every minute with Gram.
Here are some pictures from our first day. I present to you, Stellenbosch though the eyes of Gram:
| We walked down Ryneveld to Dan's office. Here's Eland on the "smokin' wheels" part. :) |
| Getting ready to cross Plein Street |
| A quick stop at the bank |
| A lovely fall view of the Dutch Reformed "Mother Church" |
| Showing Mom the Rooiplein at Stellenbosch University. (It's like the Quad at Illinois.) |
| A view of Simonsberg from the front of the Engineering campus |
| Dan in his element, working on the white boards with one of his grad students, LeRoi |
| The workflow board. Yes, I am on it. No, I have not completed my task. |
| Auggie's first airplane drawing on Dan's wall. |
| Rozenhof, with all the construction in front |
| Auggie and I made this sign for Gram. Check out his South African flag on the right--pretty impressive for doing it all by himself! |
| One of the highlights of Gram's visit here was getting to pick Auggie up from school. Here he is in his classroom. |
| Auggie the chicken, with all the chickens and sheep on the wall |
| How cool is this? Dress up down below, reading room up above |
| Auggie's locker |
| Auggie in true form heading home |
| We went to eat at the Postcard Cafe on the Stark-Condé vineyard after picking Auggie up from school. I'm so glad we did it right away because we've had nothing but clouds and rain ever since. |
| Stark-Condé is up Jonkershoek Road and thus has Botma's Kop and the Twins on the left and Stellenbosch Mountain to the right (what you can see here). |
| A guinea fowl feather! |
| Gram brought the boys animal cup holder things, and Eland adores his!! |
