Bettys Bay Surfing!

One of our South African bucket-list items has always been to learn how to surf. Thankfully we have friends who surf like we climb, which means pretty much every weekend they can. Their parents have a house on the beach at Bettys Bay and they invited us out for a meal and a surf. I had a headache, so only Dan went, but he was completely hooked afterwards. Ansuné says he took to it quite well. :)

Auggie and Eland on their way to the beach!
Everything about Bettys is gorgeous
Stunning, right? I only wish I had had our big camera--but I suppose these aren't too bad for an old iPhone.
Auggie and Alfred, Ansuné, and Sofia's dog, Sumbawa. He's such a sweet dog, and pictures like these make me miss Stella so much!
Btw, Auggie is no longer a New Mexican--he loves going in the water!
You can see Dan and Ansuné in the water. They're the little black specks.
Moon, mountains, and sea!
Dan and Ansuné coming back from the long walk to surfing
Getting to where they were surfing was about a 15 minute walk on the beach. Auggie was eager to do it as we headed out so that we could watch, but he cried most of the walk back. I don't blame him, he was pretty tired at cold at this point.
Such a cool shot!
There he is, surfer Dan!
Surfing Daddy to the rescue. :)
