Poop Bomb Morning

Compliments of Auggie dearest, the sweet/disgusting smell of baby poop wafted through our hotel room about a half-hour after waking up. And oh my GOODNESS I can't wait to get him back in cloth diapers in a month. It seems like every time he poops in a disposable it shoots up his back, whereas with cloth I'd say 9 times out of 10 his diaper always contains everything. Dan and I cast lots and I lost, meaning Dan got to go out to the car to get the diaper and clean onesie while I bathed the offending baby and his soiled pj's. Yuck!

Speaking of bathing babies, I had another traumatic incident with my little one Wednesday. :( As we were packing up and cleaning our house, I had to go to the bathroom. Dan was on the computer and phone talking to potential lenders, so I grabbed Auggie and up to the bathroom we went. I had just finished cleaning the full-length mirror so I pluncked Kiddo down in the dry bathtub thinking it was a no-brainer spot for him to keep his paw prints off the mirror.

I looked away for no less than 5 seconds - seriously - when I head a THUD and turned fast enough to see Auggie's chin hit the side of the tub out of the corner of my eye. He went down hard. :(

Screaming, yes, I was expecting that, but what I wasn't expecting was all the blood pooling in his mouth. Gobs of blood. I felt faint just seeing it. I quickly realized that when Auggie went down he had his tongue sticking out pretty far, so his two front chompers punched a decent sized cut halfway up his tongue.

It stopped bleeding eventually, but not before calling his nurse, my dad for medical advise, my mom for prayer, and talking with a few neighbors on an intentionally distracting walk around the block. Dan and I were both pretty freaked out by seeing our son bleeding so much, but there really wasn't much even the ER could have done. Poor Auggie, his tongue was so sore that he wouldn't nurse at bedtime until after I gave him Motrin and an ice cube to suck on.

On that note, here's a pic of our chipper baby pre-morning poop bomb.

I am loving your iphone since it helps you post so much! Mouth injuries are the worst. You think- oh you fell down, you are going to be okay. But then when you see blood...
