I'm trying to type as quietly as possible, since Auggie is on the other side of a short wall attempting to fall asleep. He's been fighting the nap for about 15 minutes now. I keep hearing him shuffle around in his crib, 'ahhhhing' every once and awhile.
Here's a quick photo-version of our trip so far..
On our way to the airport:
Here's a cute picture of Augs at Willard Airport (notice our itty-bitty plane):
We have a boardbook called "Planes" by Byron Barton. I am positive that after reading the book and looking out the window while landing, Auggie is able to make the connection. He was very interested in looking at all of the planes, trucks, hoses, and workers at the airport.
Val hearts O'Hare. I know most people hate it, but it feels like home to me. Here's Auggie playing on the floor:
Auggie staying up late playing in our hotel room:
And the morning view from the Land of Not-Flat:
Auggie was great on the plane rides here, of course. Fussy, sure, but who wouldn't be when you're just learning how to walk?
In about 45 minutes we're off to meet with our real estate agent and look at homes. I'm a little bit nervous as we haven't seen anything online that we're too enthusiastic about. After remodeling our last home to be exactly what we wanted, we make for some pretty picky home-buyers. (Btw, we are accepting all prayers for finding a good house. ;)
....
In other news, Mr. Man turned 9 months yesterday. He's fantastic. His vocal skills are really taking off, and he even says 'maamaamaa' in my general direction, 'daadadaadaaaaa' in Dan's general direction, and 'adah, adah' in Stella's general direction. He loves Stella, and laughs uncontrollably when she races around outside in the backyard. He feeds himself organic O's, banana chunks, and all kinds of yummy fruit from the little fruit net things. (I'll have an explanation later on if you don't know what I'm talking about.) He can climb the stairs from bottom to top in about 40 seconds, including the dangerous 90˚ turn. He crawls lightning fast.
And Auggie is just so brave. He's not afraid to let go when he's standing, he's not afraid to put his hands in things, and he's not afraid to put things in his mouth. (Imagine that? :) Although he doesn't put everything in his mouth, which is nice for Mom and Dad. See Auggie standing up next to the hotel air conditioner? Shortly after I took this picture he was trying to close the control panel with his left hand, but still had his right hand in the control panel. Whoopsie. There was lots of screaming, but the boy's gotta figure it out on his own, right? :)
...
I'll hopefully post more later. Now that I'm unemployed and all (last day was two days ago... and I miss my wonderful co-workers oh so much!!) I will hopefully have more time to keep everyone updated. ... I'm also working on the Mother of All Blog Posts. It's a list of baby-related-everything, reviewed, for my sweet preggo sister to use for reference. ... So that's coming soon.

Such an exciting, scary adventure you are embarking on. I'm sending all my "find a great house" vibes your way, and I am excited that you will be closer and able to experience the not-so-flatness of the west and the mountains. Keep us updated.

(oh, and I still miss my CS coworkers...it's been more than 2 years)
I love Auggie's shoes - good trail shoes! And the one of him standing by the stroller is amazing. His balance has improved so much!
Just imagine yourselves as cliff dwellers instead of Midwesterners and then the houses there will seem luxurious. : ) Lord, bless Val and Dan (and Auggie) with an excellent house - great room arrangements, large backyard, safe area, close proximity to work, etc.
Albuquerque!?! Congratulations and prayers for your house. I'll miss seeing you once a year, ha ha! Maybe you guys can come visit us someday. :)
