For me, journaling is a great way to interact with God. Having my thoughts written out somehow brings clarity and understanding to what I'm going through in life. (And blogging does not satisfy that need - I don't think full transparency is truly possible when the writer knows others are reading.) So last night at church I got prayer after the service for just that - finding time for God through journaling... And sure enough, just this morning Auggie happened to sleep in an hour later, allowing me extra sleeping time (wink-wink) as well as time to write. Not bad.
Another somewhat divine thing happened last night - I picked up a freelance design job. I have very little interest in freelance work. My time is worth far more than the money that I could make through freelancing, so it's just not something I go out looking for. But for some reason this new project seems different. Dan and I met a couple sitting behind us at church during the say-hi-to-your-neighbor time. They were cool. Didn't think too much of it, but for some reason she was stuck in my head when I went up for prayer. I thought maybe we should try to hang out with them sometime. Well, as it turns out, I was recommended to her as a possible person to design her web portfolio, but she didn't realize that I was the Val she was looking for until later on... Long story short, we talked on the phone, and I'm going to take on designing her web portfolio. I guess it may not seem all that 'divine' or anything like that, but it feels that way for some reason. Regardless, I, yes I who have a full time job, a 3-month-old, a dog, a husband, lots of laundry to do, and a blog that needs regular attention, am taking on a design job in my spare time. Maybe God will connect the dots later on.
In baby news, Auggie hasn't slept through the night since Thursday night, but I'm still hopeful that this may happen again. Right now he's being mister-vocal-whineypants. But hey, that's better than mister-crying-at-the-top-of-my-lungspants. :) ... I'm looking forward to receiving 3 new brands of diapers in the mail this week to try out on him. His small Fuzzi Bunz need replacing since his thighs are so cute 'n chunky. However insignificant it may seem, I can't wait to try the new diapers! Yeah life as a mom! Diaper review posts coming soon..
And every post needs a picture of the Little Man. His expression here has a hint of the Larry L baby smirk. (Gramps.)
EDIT: Auggie is just figured out how to BOUNCE in his jumper!! He loves it!

Hey Val, I always leave a comment so you know I'm checking your blog. Love it, love you! Good stuff. :) xoxo af
Val, Dad loves the picture of Auggie in the blue seat. He loves the "smirk" and he thinks Auggie looks like Winston Churchill - just needs a cigar. lol
