3 months

Today is Augustin's Three Month birthday. Once again, he has a new face to go with it. It seems that every few weeks or so Auggie's face/head changes. He had the newborn head, then the one-month-old-man-baby head (for those of you who can't figure that one out - hair on the sides but bald on top), the two-month-bigger-baby head, and now, a bigger three-month head. He has a little bit more hair, but nothing too significant.

Auggie's eyes are still blue, but a lighter blue than when he was born. His eyelashes still make every woman he meets swoon and his dimples cause fainting spells. He's plumping up nicely with chubby baby everything - in fact, he's nearly outgrown the thigh-holes in his Fuzzi Bunz diapers. Speaking of diapers, this little man is a champion pee-er and requires hemp diapers at night for their super absorbency. Ha! Speaking of night, he slept through the night for the second night in a row!! And Mama was (and still is!) a happy woman! Another big step: Auggie sleeps in his own room now. (Not to worry, he has proven time and again that he can get our attention whenever he deems necessary.)

The Little Man is getting stronger and more lithe every day. His neck hasn't been something to bother about for some time now. I think he qualifies as an 'active baby' because if he's hanging out on his own he's moving constantly. Arms circles, leg lifts. Squawks. Coos. Even when I hold him he's always trying to stretch out his legs in an attempt to stand. Last month he could bat at hanging toys with his arms, this month he can actually grab them. He was delighted to discover a button that plays music on one hanging toy fish, and another that makes a crinkly noise when he grabs and holds it.

Auggie is now a regular at the campus climbing wall and collects a harem of adorers at every visit. Another activity there is walking on the track. He hangs out in my Moby Wrap origami while I walk, and then he eventually conks out by mile 2. I get a workout and he gets a nap - not bad. When the weather is warm enough I hope to move this outdoors so that we can take Stella too.

Well, I'm just about up with my lunch break.. I hope to add a few more notes to Auggie's 3-month post. Particularly how Dan and I have adjusted to life, a list of baby-things that I can't live without, a list of baby-things my life depends on but I never thought I'd need, and a list of things we can do without.
