No sleeping through the night last night, but 4:50am isn't bad. No complaints here..Okay, so more of the 3-month activities: Auggie can 'gather' with his hands, meaning that rather than just aimed-flailing Auggie's arms come together with his hands meeting in the middle, then they come straight towards his mouth. Anything that may have been 'gathered' in the process heads right into a wide-open mouth. Today at Panera that happened to be his crinkly cow toy.
One last cute little note.. Auggie does the most adorable thing when he's sleepy and being held. He likes to nestle his head into the head of whoever is holding him. Pull your head away, and he'll nestle back into yours.. My mom discovered this over Christmas.. Too cute.
And now for my lists. There were things I never thought we'd need, and things I thought we had to have that turned out to be inconsequential. Now, after the baby-fact, it's interesting (at least to me) to quantify the essentials.
Baby things I can't live without
- The Boppy nursing pillow
- A moby wrap
- Cloth diapers - they ROCK! Every time we wash them I think about how good they are for the environment. And the mega-bucks we're saving.
- An electric breast pump. Uggh, a hand-pump at work would be torture.
- BIG receiving blankets (thank the Lord for swaddling!)
- Bear suits!!!
- Bibs!
- A glider rocking chair (thanks Majeres!)
- The play mat with hanging things that Auggie can bat at
- The mobile
- Two diaper pail liners, as opposed to just one
- All the receiving blankets we received
- All the onsies we received
- Clothes that were 'too big'... Ha.. Too big doesn't last for long..
- Lots of hats
- Infant socks (Auggie's feet were way too long from the start)
- The BOB stroller... Well, maybe that's because winter isn't stroller time.. I'll reevaluate this spring.
- Prefold diapers.. They're invaluable as burp-rags, but Auggie's champion peeing skills knocked them right out of the diaper lineup.
- The Consumer Reports best-buy car seat.. SUCKS! It's really difficult to operate. We should have gone with something more expensive, assuming the expensive car seats are easier to use.
- Pascifiers.. Auggie doesn't like them. But I think that's a good thing in the long-run.
- Edit: Cotton breast pads - love the idea, but they're the opposite of discreet, although they're great for nighttime since looks don't matter. In my search for re-usable, discreet breast pads, I found LilyPadz which are stinkin' awesome, and far more undetectable than the disposable kinds.
