The View Out My Kitchen Window

Today, it is rainy. It's a nice, summer rain. We're still wearing shorts and have the windows open. Today reminds me of one of those rare, beautifully cloudy days in Albuquerque, where it's cloudy so rarely that you relish the cozy feeling of gray. Stellenbosch in the summer is sunny each and every day--I'm not complaining!!--just saying how much I'm enjoying the cozy feeling of clouds.

The view from the kitchen window
And our kitchen, in case you were curious what that looked like
The living room/kitchen
Eland looking out the balcony doors
The living room window, with the steeple of the Moederkerk ("mooder-kerk" - Dutch Reformed "Mother Church")  standing up above the treetops
Our building has the most gorgeous garden--you can see one of the flowering trees on the left
Auggie has been a bit under the weather yesterday and today. Stomach pains, clammy, but no fever. Just watching him and pushing liquids for now.
Auggie taking a morning snooze after waking me nearly every hour last night. Uggh.
Auggie, however, was not sick enough to be prevented from enjoying a fun art project that Sandrine brought over: a paintable wooden birdhouse! He insisted on working on it during quiet time.
A little paint on my paintbrush, a little paint on my nose..
"Smile and look at the camera, Auggie!"
"Ta da!"
