ORD to ABQ

We are headed home to Albuquerque. We're on the plane now (past tense by the time I'm able to post.)

We celebrated this weekend as my older brother Dave married the love of his life Elisabeth. We couldn't be happier for them. :) The wedding was a full-scale Chicago wedding with the reception on Michigan Ave. It was a beautiful wedding, but of course not as beautiful as the bride - she was stunning. My sister and I had the honor of standing up on her side.. So much fun! The whole wedding was fabulous!

Dan and Auggie were absolutely handsome in their matching gray suits. Man, we've been putting Auggie through the ringer with all the traveling we've been doing, poor guy. But he's been a trooper and was a hit at the wedding. At one point I just plopped him on the floor in the middle of te dance floor and let him crawl to his heart's desire.

We also had a chance to visit Dan's family before the wedding, which was an equally wonderful time. Dan's mom's sister and her daughter were in town and I'm so glad we got to see them.

Like I said we are en route headed home to Albuquerque.. What an odd concept. Albuquerque as 'home' will be something to get used to. We even have Stella on board with us. As I was investigating flying her later this week I discovered that it would be cheaper to fly her as checked baggage rather than as cargo separately. I discovered this roughly two hours before our flight. Hehe.. So rather than messing with alternate tickets and risking temperatures above 85 degrees, when you can't ship a dog as cargo, we scrambled together her things, made a copy of her rabies vaccine papers, and rushed out the door dog and all. My parents were key as it was wonderful having my mom drop us off and my dad come into the terminal as an extra set of hands with security and whatnot. Stella was a little bit wary, but my mom's been praying so I'm sure she's alright. :) We even saw her kennel in a loading truck outside the plane as we waited for everyone to board, so we are sure she'll make it. Phew!

Here is Auggie asleep in my arms:

Taking off from O'Hare at night was an odd feeling since it's usually where we're landing at night. I'll miss Chicago so much. And Champaign. I wonder how our old garden is doing. And the stella sunflowers our neighbors planted in honor of Stella. ... Bittersweet.

...

Just landed.. Its RAINING in Albuquerque!

I miss you, Val :(
I drive/walk past your house often and check things out. The yard doesn't look like it's been touched much, so I'm sure your garden is growing like crazy!!

Give Auggie a kiss for me!
