Summer Fire

Monday afternoon the light shining into our flat became a bit off. Auggie and I looked outside the windows to discover a really strange orange, ominous cloud floating towards us from over the Simonsberg mountain to the northeast. It was really bizarre, and on top of that, I tried to open our balcony doors to step outside and get a closer look, but they wouldn't open. Strange, indeed.

Auggie and I went up to the tower to snap a few pictures out the window. It looked like it could be smoke from a fire, but I assumed it wasn't considering there was no burning smell to it. However, it turns out there were fires on the other side of the Simonsberg and that's what the smoke was from. In fact, there have been lots of fires recently as the weather has been hot, dry, and windy. And now I can add yet another item to the list of similarities this place has with Albuquerque.
