I know this looks like a decent enough forecast to most of you, but let me tell you that I am close to terrified. Well, maybe not that bad, but we've not yet dealt with 50˚s during the day as a steady forecast, and we've already had some very cold days. I suppose it's not so bad when you step outside, but inside it always seems to be colder. Ay yi yi... Time to buy more firewood.
The rain is also challenging. It makes hang-drying clothes inside our apartment nearly impossible--not to mention smelly. After living in Albuquerque, I'm used to towels drying in minutes, not never! I think the rain makes the temperature feel colder, too.
On the positive side, according to weather websites, July is the coldest month of the year here, and according to South Africans, July and August are the two months where you can find snow in the mountains and frost on the roads. That said, I'm relieved that "the worst" is finally here and we're getting on with getting it over with.
