Today Dan had to go to Paarl to sign up as a taxpayer with the South African government. It's the only way we'll get our tax return here, so smart idea, right? Long story short, we're not signed up yet due to the screwy way they do things here, but on the bright side, we got to go check out Paarl Rock!
Paarl is Afrikans for pearl, and literally the rock glistens on top of the mountains like a pearl from down below. It's round like a pearl, too.
Going to Paarl Rock isn't a whole day trip because you can drive pretty much to the top. (Well, it would be a whole day trip if you were going to climb, ahem, Kendra and Micah. ;) Anyway, we had a blast checking it out. The best part was, it was supposed to rain all day, but held off until after we got home in the late afternoon. So it wasn't too sunny, and on a colder day like today, being outside hiking felt really good.

| Paarl Rock reminded us of a mini Half Dome |

| The view from the top |
 |
| A little gully that we had to cross, but it was tricky because you can't get much traction on the rock after crossing it because your shoes get wet. |
 |
| So instead, we went one at a time, with Dan going first. I passed the kids up to him. |
 |
| The very top! |
 |
| No this isn't Table Mountain, it just looks like it with those thick clouds hovering. |

scarry larry... :) I do love that you all are so adventurous and are sharing that spirit with your boys! I'm sure I'll be calling you one day when Paul is out adventuring with our boys... that is if we don't end up with about 12 girls ;)
