We have two new favorite library books to report this month!

"Ben and Gran and the Whole, Wide, Wonderful World"
by Gillian Shields and Katherine McEwen |
"Ben and Gran and the Whole, Wide, Wonderful World" is a story about a grandson and a grandmother who adore each other more than any other, but live a world apart. Auggie really jives with the story since he lives on the other side of the world from his two grandmas. In the story, we get to follow Gran and her journey across the Whole, Wide, Wonderful World to make it to her favorite person Ben's house by tea-time on Saturday.

| "Zanzibar Road" by Niki Daly |
We just read "Zanzibar Road" ten minutes ago and it was an immediate favorite. So immediate that I ran to the internet to make sure Amazon sells it so that we can send it to all nieces and nephews for any subsequent birthdays and Christmases. ;) [EDIT: The book we have is "Zanzibar Road" while the book on amazon.com is "Welcome to Zanzibar Road". I will be making a point of buying the South African version of the book, as it will have the original, non-American-English language, which in my opinion is one of the best things about books here.]
It's about Mama Jumbo and her quest to build a house, find somebody to love, and then take care of the little one that she loves, Little Chico. This story is so much fun to read, totally African, and has five separate stories that Auggie and Eland will surely be asking for by name. Love it!!
