When Homesick, Go to the Beach!

We have a new rule: when homesick, we have to do something here that we can't do back home. So, three weekends ago, when we were feeling homesick, we went to the beach!

Despite being chilly, it was a beautiful day. We put the boys in their backpacks and went for a hike along the beach. The beach itself is very wide, so there was plenty of room for walking on the hard, recently-wet sand without getting our shoes wet. Strand beach is on the top of False Bay so from there you can see all the way down to Rooiels and the Cape Point. Beautiful!

Eland and me, bundled, but also enjoying the sun.
Auggie does most of his own hiking these days.
This is Auggie's first drawing ever with a face--note the three holes at the top of the peanut person for eyes and a mouth.
Exploring, but still keeping shoes dry
Dan found bright orange starfish!

This one's blurry, but notice the supercool little pink starfish on the rock
