Climbing and Camping and Beach, Oh My! :: PM, Day 2

What better than to end an awesome weekend of camping and climbing with an afternoon at the beach?!

We found this beach just around the bend at the very southeast corner of False Bay. We drove past it on the main road, spotted it and had to go, turned around, drove through a teeny-tiny little town, worked our way through narrow streets filled with beach houses, and found the path to the beach. Gorgeous... I can't even tell you.. It was gorgeous.

Dan and Eland.. And I swear the horizon was level when I took the photo. Arrgh.

Our poor New Mexican children want nothing to do with water. They are used to desert, and all things not water. Auggie would not get near the water, and Eland screamed for the majority of the time that Dan or I brought him in. I suppose a better night's sleep and proper napping would have helped, but sometimes that's just not possible. What can you do? ... The boys will learn. Soon, I'm sure. (I should add that they do love pools.)

Safe in the sand
The beaches are be-speckled with mussel shells. Some are actually quite beautiful. Donna, I bet you could make some really cool earrings with these. (The prettier ones, not this one. ;)
What's a day at the beach without the station wagon and a shovel?
