Reflections on Huevos Rancheros and Video Chat

Mmmm.. I made huevos rancheros the other night for dinner and am now enjoying leftovers for breakfast. Yumm. What's funny is that I have had the recipe for a pretty long time now in my cooking binder. I ripped it out of a Penzey's spice catalog when we used to live in Illinois, and only now that I'm in New Mexico am I making this Mexican dish. Well, honestly it's probably nothing like the real thing, but Dan and I think what I made the other night is pretty darn good. Just don't have the spice epazote, but it turned out fine without..

Auggie and I woke up before 6am this morning, or at what I like to call Stupid O'Clock in the Morning. (Usually anything before 6am qualifies as such.) Dan's not been feeling well so we offered to give him a ride to work this morning. He usually rides his bike but on mornings when he needs a ride life with one car gets slightly complicated. But only slightly, I know we both agree that we'd rather deal with a little hassle than have two cars. Why pay more for insurance, gas, and possibly a car payment when we don't have to?

Anyway, we drove Dan in, came home, and video chatted with my parents! Oh how I love you technology and Apple computers! (Sorry Ellen, I had to put that in there..! I read your hater-raid on Apple, it only made me slightly salty, hehe.. But I understand your point about affordable computers.) I am thrilled that both sets of grandparents are now set up with video cameras and Google video chat. Yay!! And it's so easy. .. Although I've realized that I have a hard time with the whole video chat concept. I'm usually running around the house getting things like laundry and dishes done while talking on the phone, so being tied to a computer while communicating is a little odd, but still well worth it for Auggie to see his grandparents. And my dad was a ham when we tested it out last night. Hehe...

Little Man is screeching upstairs. Blek. Since we woke up extra early I made the executive decision that Auggie needed an early morning nap, namely because I need an early morning nap myself. And now he's banging and jumping around his crib! Arrgh.. It was quiet for 10 minutes and I was really hoping that was bona fide sleep. Boo..

Oh, before I forget - Auggie cut the tiniest little edge of his very first molar on Saturday! Bottom, on his right. And now he's drooling up a storm again, right when I just stopped bibbing him...

ha ha, I'm not offended. really it's their ads that I dislike more than the computers themselves
